WW1 YMCA Bible Attributed To First Day Of The Somme Survivor Lt Rush, York & Lancasters ( Sheffield 12th City Battalion ) 1st July 1916. This YMCA bible was presented to Lieutenant Bernard Rush in 1915 , he later went on to serve in the Home Guard & added inside the front cover a handwritten dedication with coloured insignia of York & Lancaster, Sheffield 12th City Battalion 'Serre 1915' . He has written in his own hand ' I , one of the 47 who returned , unwounded from the attack on Serre (Somme) France - July 1st 1916, still remember the 600 Sheffield boys who died on that day.
