MBE Great War & WW2 Medal Group Of Eight To Sir Roger Sewell Bacon. MBE medal group to Sir Roger Sewell Bacon comprising his MBE , Great War & Second War medals with 1953 Coronation medal.1914-15 star named ' LIEUT.R.S.BACON CHES.R.' War & Victory both named 'CAPT.R.S.BACON.' Swing mounted as worn. Also with the group is a Greek Order of the Redeemer Officers Cross in original case, this with a handwritten note reading ' decoration given to Father by King of Greece with title of 'Le Chevalier ' . To reverse of note 'a note made by his daughter Charlotte Bacon' . Two brass Cheshire regiment tunic buttons from his WW1 service also compliment the group. Coming in the card box within which stored by family for many years.
Born 23rd January 1895. Educated at Rugby before Balliol College , Oxford he held a temporary commission in the Cheshire Regiment during the Great War & after having been called to the bar in 1923 was Deputy Judge Advocate from 1940 -1943 . Appointed a Member Of The British Empire (MBE) in 1943 for his services to the War Department he went on in 1946 to become Lord Chief Justice of Gibraltar for nine years.
