£1,400
WW1 German 'Sappenpanzer' Trench Armour. Scarce example of the second model trench armour this a slight improvement on the 1916 first model with widened armpits & medial ridge at chest centre to allow better range of movement when firing weapons etc. Armour still bears a good proportion of its chemically blackened finish with the lightly scaled finish of the metal showing only light surface age in places. The slotted strap brackets to the chest plate are intact with its original webbing straps being held in place to the lower plates by the use of heavy staple stitches. The felt pads , intended to reduce noise, are attached by the same webbing straps with double rows of stitching.
