Register to Bid

Before you can participate in any of our auctions, you must register for an account.

Online Auctions: Create an account and complete the online registration form

Browse the Catalogue

Our online catalogue is available several weeks prior to each auction. Each listing includes:

High-quality images
Detailed descriptions
Estimated values
Condition reports (available upon request)

Ways to Bid

Choose the method that works best for you:

Live Online Bidding: Bid in live streamed / real-time through us with our secure online platform or one of the other platforms that we offer. Please note that fees may vary depending on which platform you choose. Other than the buyers premium there are no additional charges for bidding through our own Trenchards Auctioneers website.
Telephone Bidding : We are happy to facilitate telephone bids with at least 24 hours notice. Please telephone the office to arrange & you will be called three to four lots in advance as your lot number approaches.
Absentee /Commission Bids : If you are not going to be available on auction day you can let us know which lots you want to bid on & your maximum bids . These details will be passed to the auctioneer for the live bidding on the day.

Winning a Lot

If you are the highest bidder when the hammer falls and the reserve has been met, you are the successful buyer. A confirmation email or invoice will be sent to you shortly after the auction ends.

A buyer’s premium of 16% + VAT will be added to the hammer price of each lot that you have won. If bids are placed online via our own Trenchards website or bids left with us presale there is no extra charge (0%) other than the above buyers premium for this service. If bidding directly through the-saleroom.com , their internet surcharge of 4.95% plus VAT will also be applied. If bidding through Easy Live Auction there is a surcharge of either 3% plus VAT or a one off fixed fee of £3 per auction. This also applies to Autobids placed on their website. For timed auctions , winning bidders agree to pay the winning bid plus buyers premium of 16% plus VAT. Live auctions are not covered by the Sales Of Goods Act.

You are welcome to collect your lots in person however if you require use of our in house shipping service this can be requested at the point of invoice & a postage quote provided.
